* hijra – term to define transwomen; used more in northern india than in Tamil Nadu, but “thirunangai” was too long to write in the speech bubble (why are Tamil words so long???)
* +2 – the equivalent of twelfth grade
* gnana-pazham – literally, “the fruit of knowledge;” it was originally a term used to describe the tamil god murugan, coined by one of the Avvai poetesses, but colloquially it’s often used as a way to jokingly describe people who are overly pious or overly nerdy (often a combo of both) *starts singing pazham nee appaa loudly*
