This innocent kid had a pen in his hand, was excited about his graduation and ended up dead just a few hours before it just because one of the cops thought Tommy had a knife in his hand, but it was a pen. He killed Tommy because of a FREAKING PEN. How do you justify that?
It’s also hard to watch his story not getting as much attention it deserves. He deserves justice and cops should pay for their brutality.
Even if it was a knife was he threatening anyone? Are people not allowed to cut open packages anymore?
What happened to “Hey you over there, stop?”
How on earth can anyone excuse using a gun to kill a kid especially before asking what the fuck is in his hand?
If you want to look at this and utter that horrid mantra “but he should have…” tell me, he should have what? Lived his entire life acting as innocent and non-threatening as possible? Had the psychic ability to know when the cop was going to shoot at him and put up his hands shouting “I’m not armed”? Not existed in the fucking pig’s line of sight?
Please reach into your senseless ass and tell me exactly what matrix-esque move this poor kid would have to pull to not be deserving of death in your eyes.
This is a Police Execution. They put this kid on death row without a trial or chance to appeal. For holding a pen.
Is this really the society you want to live in?
I’m not sure if alt-ed means he was going through special education, (not sure if this is ableist to use. If there is a better term, let me know and I’ll correct it) but if it’s so, it’s another case of neurodivergent person (especially neurodivergent Poc) getting shot for showing symptoms in public.
Also, not too related, but I’m really glad to see black-and-asian solidarity on race issues once again. Dividing POCs into “model minority” is preservation tactics by white supremacists and I’m glad we can start to (once again) see through it and band together.
