The popular American Imagist illustrator Alfred F. Jones is known for his depictions of an idealized American man who is the very symbol of commercialized masculinity in the early 20th century. What his many fans and clients do not know is that the Foster Jones Man is his beloved model and lover Arthur Kirkland who lives an idyllic dream with him in their New England estate.“
My comic piece for the @usukustwiceperyear collection “Uncommon Professions” this year! For years I’ve dreamt of drawing J.C. Leyendecker + usuk somehow. Arthur and Alfred are loosely based off of J.C. Leyendecker and Charles Beach – his life partner and favorite model – who basically created menswear marketing together under Charles Beach’s identity as the Arrow Collar Man. Honestly, they’re iconic.

theres an entire subculture on youtube with cocky middle aged adults using some uninterestingly designed persona talking sprite that they commissioned some artist on deviantart for, and use them to make “rant videos” and talking about shit absolutely no one cares about and they are the most boring things on youtube with a huge following
and they’re always videos like this like watch out this talking drawing is going to pwn feminists with his epic ideas for 12 minutes
Arthur squirms as Alfred shifts closer, breath warm against the side of Arthur’s face as he laughs at a particularly funny scene in the movie. Arthur’s stomach churns. He bites back a smile, cheeks flooding red as Alfred throws his arm around him absentmindedly.
“Popcorn, babe?” Alfred says, mistaking Arthur’s silence for annoyance at Alfred having hogged the bowl.
“Um, n- no, thank you.” Arthur stammers. Alfred beams in reply and turns back to the television.
Arthur sits up straight, hands primly in his lap. He then glances at Alfred. He glances at his knees.
Just do it.
He shifts closer under Alfred’s arm in one fluid, gut-wrenchingly difficult motion, face burning in an embarrassment he hopes to god Alfred doesn’t notice.
Alfred does. He pretends he doesn’t, smiling into his hand as he shovels more popcorn into his mouth.
So I started watching this Japanese dating show on Netflix called Rea(L)ove, where every contestant is looking for love and each has a “dark secret” that they have to reveal to the other contestants at random times, and hope that the others still accept them. Some are addicted to sex, some have a lot of debt, some have a criminal record and so on. So there is this one girl who likes one of the guys despite him being rude at times, and he choosesto go on a solo date with her. Towards the end of their date, the hosts make her share her secret with him, and it goes as follows:
he had an almost speechless and shocked response, he didn’t say anything negative or positive really, just the two hosts kept laughing and saying very rude remarks. The scene just kind of ended with them walking away and then their individual thoughts on the date that pretty much boiled down to:
and
So the next day, the girls, this time, get to choose a guy to go on a date with…
WILL HE????
HE DID!
So now, on the date—–
Sorry for the long post, but this was one of the sweetest things I’ve seen in a long time, and I was literally crying and just needed to share this with someone
SPOILER ALERT: THEY CHOSE EACH OTHER AT THE END!!!!!!!!
It looks like tumblr now automatically converts png files to jpg – if you have a fairly “clean”/simple digital art style that gets wrecked by jpg artifacts, you’ll want to put transparency somewhere in the image – tumblr will leave pngs with transparency alone (a single pixel border of transparency around the image works and is pretty non-intrusive).
Incidentally twitter has done this for a while, the same method of fixing it works there.
