And people dare call these jobs “unskilled labour”

Be careful how comfortable you get with jokes that cut yourself down and emphasize the false concept that there’s no hope for your future and life is pointless. I get that talking about struggles is important and helps in not feeling alone. There has to be a line though, between “hey here’s something that’s rough so I’m gonna laugh about it” and cheering each other on as you hammer unhealthy concepts deeper into your mind. You are not worthless. You are not ugly. You are not trash. Good is absolutely possible in your future. Don’t forget that words have power. Be careful how much poison you throw in your own well.
Puerto Rico is about to face a blackout for SIX MONTHS due to Hurricane Irma
Guys, this is no fucking joke. I got family in Puerto Rico right now and this power outage means I might not be able to get in ANY contact with them for the next few months. That means no phones, no internet, no electric /at all/. I won’t even be able to check on them to see if they’re okay. Not to mention Puerto Rico is literally surrounded by water, rivers, lakes.
Seeing how there’s been major deadly floods in Houston, Nigeria, and South India, I’m almost sure we can expect flooding in Puerto Rico as well.
I’m worried for my family and my friends, not just for the natural disasters but the overall state of Puerto Rico economically as well. During this power outage a lot of people are gonna lose jobs, they’re gonna lose their homes, and I personally feel powerless as to how to help.
Please keep Puerto Rico in your minds and hearts and don’t forget to support them in any way possible in the near future.
Hurricane Irma is expected to make landfall in the US Friday and the governor has just declared a state of emergency throughout the entirety of Florida
On the heels of Harvey all I can say is please pray that Florida and all the countries in the Caribbean in Irma’s path avoid the worst and that no lives are lost
With the seas getting warmer and our infrastructure neglected, storm damage is going to get worse. Waiting it out is not an option.
If you’re in the path of the hurricane here are some vital information packets:
- Have an evacuation plan and finalize it now <– This is vital and often over simplified, please read through this
- If you have the means build your disaster kit TODAY Even if you don’t live in the path of this storm, if you live in any severe weather prone area you need one of these
- If you have pets you need to hammer down a safe and reliable evacuation spot. Call your local health department and ask if shelters accept animals. Check surrounding hotels and ask with them. Nobody wants to leave their pets behind so be prepared for both your lives!
- Lower your fridge/freezer thermostat to the lowest setting possible
- Never ever ever run a generator indoors
- Don’t risk driving through flood waters
- NOAA Radio for updates
- What to do when you can come back
- Self care during and after a disaster
a reminder for nonasian people
you know… with this rise in interest in east asian culture and “aesthetics” over the past couple of years also comes with a rise in asian cultural appropriation… so for every nonasian out there who would consider themselves a fan of cutesy asian things or stuff like kpop or anime, you guys have an obligation to people of the culture you’re enjoying to be informed and educated about their struggles. it’s not right to love and consume cultures that’s not your own while ignoring the people who are part of them. read up on appropriation, the fetishisation and infantilisation of east asian women and desexualisation of asian men, whitewashing in media, xenophobia, the erasure of our achievements and the model minority myth. you owe it to us east asians to be educated on topics that concern us if you’re going to continue to consume media and content we make.
EDIT: if you’re nonasian please reblog this so that other nonasians can see it!!

Pokemon Indigo League // Season 1 Episode 20
that the people who care about you aren’t, in fact, incrementally & constantly adjusting their opinion of you based on how stupid or cool your last interaction with them was….is something i actively try believing in every single day & when it works it brings my heart great peace
@ ppl in the tags who are afraid to believe this: i get it, i do. but ask yourself if this is something you would ever do to someone YOU care about. if your best friend accidentally spit on your face while they were talking to you, is that something that would make you want to talk to your best friend less? probably….definitely not, right? in fact, even thinking about reacting that way seems indescribably absurd, doesn’t it? the ones who care are VERY MUCH privy to an honest & fundamental core of you, and that kind of knowledge is not easily susceptible to change, ever
college is catered towards the able bodied and able minded. school applauds people who can stay up all night, skip meals, and work endlessly. that kind of extreme contribution is expected. why are disabled people being squeezed out of academic institutions? why should I feel inferior because of some arbitrary and ridiculous standard?
